We see repairing as an act of rebellion. It moves against the grain of capitalism and consumerism.
Repairs tell stories in ways that new garments do not, they hold life and significance and should be worn proudly.
Clothing
Worn through wool jumpers, a new hole in your favourite pair of jeans or a frayed sleeve? These are just a few of the things we can help with.
Too often in modern day society we treat clothing as disposable waste. Things are easily replaceable with the pace and cost of fast fashion. Why repair something when it can be bought again new? Investing in the longevity of your clothing prevents more waste entering landfill. This landfill continues to overwhelm less developed countries with our industrial waste that is a result of our rampant consumerism.
Furniture
As makers of furniture and home goods we believe strongly in the upkeep and maintenance required for furnishings to last longer than a lifetime. It might be a wonky chair leg, refinishing well loved tables or even broken joints on a drawer. Preventing those pieces from becoming kindling or entering landfill is what we are here for.
Whilst we don’t currently offer reupholstery, this is something we are looking into.
Leather
As you might know, we source the best leather in the UK from Baker’s Tannery in Devon- who tan their grass fed hides slowly with oak bark, avoiding the use of chemical processing.
When you bring in a leather bag with a snapped strap, or a belt that needs shortening, we use this leather to patch up and mend.
How does it work?
Send us an email with photos of what needs mending, if it isn’t listed above send us a message anyway as we are always happy to try and help!
Then you can either post your item to us or if you’re local- drop it off at our workshop in Cornwall- just outside of Newquay.
Below is a rough price guide to give you an idea of how we work- this is subject to change depending on the exact size and state of repair required.
